ESTATE
In September 1977 the T models were introduced at the Frankfurt motor show to instant acclaim. The T model was the first estate model of a production car for Mercedes as all previous estates had been custom built my coachbuilders of the time. T was the by word which meant touring and transport. The estate models came in 5 and also 7 seat variants, with a huge loading capacity available with the extra seats safely stowed beneath the floor area. Full production began of the T models in March 1978 at the Bremen factory with all engine variants available with the only exception being a 200 diesel unit. The pictured example here is a stunning looking 280TE from 1980 finished in Apricot Orange.
